Our Managing director and surveyor, Lee Warltier, recently lent his expertise to the British Boating Magazine to write an article on the importance of a marine survey and what is often involved in the surveying procedure.
A professional survey, conducted by a reputable and fully insured marine surveyor, is a critical part of purchasing a sailing or motor vessel.
Buying a boat, new or used, is both an exciting and daunting prospect for many and can be a huge financial risk. As such it is standard practice for boat owners to have a survey completed before purchasing a vessel, regardless of the value, and is generally a requirement for insurance for more specialised and older craft. Even lower value boats may need work that can significantly exceed the market value of the hull, so skipping on a pre-purchase survey can be a very costly error….
